By the decision of the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń prof. dr hab. Andrzej Sokala, 12 November will be free from classes.
– The awarded discoveries in the area of human physiology help us understand the mysteries about the way our body’s function: why do we feel cold while brushing our teeth with menthol or why touching your eyes after chopping a spicy pepper is not a good idea? – explains Dr. Sławomir Kujawski from the Faculty of Health Sciences of Collegium Medicum, NCU.
All Saints’ Day (Wszystkich Świętych) on 1 November is celebrated as a national holiday in Poland. This means that government offices, schools, universities, banks and many private businesses are closed. As in many other countries, this day is celebrated solemnly as a public holiday during which people visit the graves of loved ones. On that day, Polish cemeteries are alight with thousands of candles.
NCU Collegium Medicum students who have classes in hospital facilities are entitled to take their 3rd dose of Covid-19 vaccine. The 3rd dose can only be administered if the 2nd dose was taken at least 6 months prior (e.g. you can take the 3rd dose on 22 October if your 2nd dose was taken not later than 22 April). This applies to all students, regardless of where they took their first two doses.
Celebrations of the Day for Organ Donation have been organised for many years on the initiative of the Council of Europe. They are held every year – in autumn, immediately after the meeting of the European Committee on Organ Transplantation, which operates within the Council of Europe.
