Three universities of Bydgoszcz – the NCU Collegium Medicum, the Kazimierz Wielki University and the University of Science and Technology – have joined forces in the fight for the rights of the disabled. On the occasion of the European Day for Independent Living, celebrated annually on 5 May, the three universities signed an agreement on cooperation to the benefit of disabled students.

The agreement establishes the Interuniversity Council for Disabled Persons, whose task is to coordinate joint projects, raise external funds, encourage the exchange of experiences and support the initiatives of partner universities. The Council will also provide the schools with assistance in such areas as adapting classes in physical education, information technology and foreign languages to students with special needs, organising workshops, providing easier access to university libraries, arranging transport between school buildings, providing psychological assistance or promoting integration of disabled students into the academic community.
