On October 2, 2024, the first meeting of the COMET project (Manufacturing of COMmutable calibrators and quality control materials for standardisation and post-market surveillance of IVD tests) took place at the Laboratoire National de Métrologie et d’Essais (LNE) in Paris. The project, initiated in collaboration with UMK, is funded under the prestigious HORIZON Europe program for 2024-2027.
COMET is a 3-year international and interdisciplinary initiative, with participation from a consortium of leading institutions, organizations, and universities. The Polish research team was represented by prof. Mauro Panteghini and prof. Magdalena Krintus, from the Department of Laboratory Medicine at CM UMK.
The project addresses the critical issue of standardizing and harmonizing laboratory results, which is essential for ensuring high-quality healthcare. COMET’s work will help the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry comply with the requirements of the IVD Regulation EU/2017/746, particularly in terms of metrological traceability and the verification of IVD tests.
