Collegium Medicum Choir dominated the podium during the 14th International Festival of Choral Art “Singing World” in Sankt Petersburg, 3-8 August 2018. The group, conducted by prof. Janusz Stanecki, received as many as 6 main prizes!

St. Petersburg 2018The 14th International Festival of Choral Art “Singing World” was held in Sankt Petersburg between 3-8 August 2018. As many as 40 choirs from all over the world participated in this prestigious musical event, including groups from Russia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Israel, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, China, Romania, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy and Mexico. The Collegium Medicum Choir, conducted by prof. Janusz Stanecki, was the only team representing Poland.

Choirs were evaluated by an international, five-person Jury consisting of renowned musical experts from Russia, Estonia and Latvia. The Collegium Medicum Choir performed in three categories: no. 3 – Mixed choirs, no. 7 – Sacral music, and no. 8 – Modern music. The competition programme included music pieces by Polish, Russian and Scandinavian composers, as well as a composition by the Festival’s patron, Jurij Falik, entitled “Gorod spit”.

We are immensely proud to inform you that the Collegium Medicum Choir was announced winner of all three categories in which it participated. What is more, the group received the Special Prize for the best performance of Jurij Falik’s composition. 11 best choirs, including ours, were invited to compete in the Grand Prix Tournament. Again, Collegium Medicum Choir dominated the podium, receiving the Grand Prix award and the Special Prize for the Best Conductor at the Festival.

  6. 1st Prize – category no. 3 – Modern music
