Arkadiusz Jawień, head of the Department of Vascular Surgery and Angiology and Director of the Centre for Medical Education in English at NCU Collegium Medicum, unveiled his autograph embedded in the pavement of Długa Street in Bydgoszcz.

Unveiling “Bydgoszcz Autographs” is an event held annually to honour individuals who contribute to strengthening the reputation of Bydgoszcz through their professional and personal activity. This distinction for building the good name of the city is awarded by a jury comprising representatives of all public higher education institutions in Bydgoszcz, as well as the local self-government and media. In this year’s edition, the set of 36 signatures sculpted into the pavement of Długa Street has been expanded by three new autographs of notable individuals: Krzysztof Herdzin – an esteemed composer, Arkadiusz Jawień – a respected vascular surgeon, and Józef Szala – a world-renowned construction expert.

This is the fourth Bydgoszcz Autograph dedicated to a member of the academic community of NCU Collegium  Medicum. In previous editions, the honour was also awarded to:

  • prof. dr hab. Marek Harat (2010) – a prominent neurosurgeon, currently employed at the Department of Public Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences;
  • prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Włodarczyk (2015) – an expert in transplantology, currently head of the Division of Transplantology and General Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine;
