Prof. dr hab. Jan Styczyński from the Department of Paediatrics, Haematology and Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine of NCU Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz has been appointed the national consultant in the field of paediatric oncology ad haematology.
Prof. dr hab. Jan Styczyński has been appointed the national consultant in the field of paediatric oncology ad haematology. He received his nomination on 20 February 2017 from the Deputy Minister of Health, Marek Tombarkiewicz.
Prof. Styczyński graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical Academy in Gdańsk in 1989. Since 1990, he has been employed at the Department of Paediatrics, Haematology and Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine of NCU Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz. In the years 2012-2016 he served as the Vice-Rector for Collegium Medicum. Currently, he is the head physician at the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the Department of Paediatrics, Haematology and Oncology in the A. Jurasz University Hospital No. 1 in Bydgoszcz and the head of the Division of Clinical and Experimental Oncology of the said Department.
The professional and scientific activity of Prof. Styczyński is mainly focused on the areas of paediatric haematology and oncology as well as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. He is an author and co-author of numerous research publications.
Prof. Styczyński in now the third expert from NCU Collegium Medicum among advisers to the Polish Ministry of Health. In 2013, the position of the national consultant in paediatric gastroenterology was assigned to prof. dr hab. Mieczysława Czerwionka-Szaflarska, who at the time served as the head of the Department of Paediatrics, Allergology and Gastroenterology at the Faculty of Medicine. In 2014, dr Robert Szafkowski from the Department of Balneology and Physical Medicine at the Faculty of Health Sciences was appointed as the national consultant in the field of balneology and physical medicine.
