We’re proud to announce that Prof. dr hab. Jan Styczyński, head of the Division of Clinical and Experimental Oncology at the Department of Paediatrics, Haematology and Oncology (Faculty of Medicine), has been appointed by the Minister of Health to the National Transplantation Council for the term 2022-2026.
The National Transplantation Council (Polish: Krajowa Rada Transplantacyjna, KRT) serves as an advisory and opinion-forming body assisting the Ministry of Health. Among other things, the National Transplantation Council reviews:
- applications of entities that seek permission from the Minister of Health for transplantation activities;
- programs in the field of collection, storage and transplantation of cells, tissues and organs;
- transplantation activities of subordinate units;
- draft legislation on transplantation.
The Council also serves as a source of information on how to acquire cells, tissues and organs which can be used to save life. KRT members are appointed from among national consultants and experts representing various medical specialties, as well as professionals specialising in cell and tissue banking and clinical transplantology. Professor Styczyński is the supervising physician at the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit in the Department of Paediatrics Haematology and Oncology at the Antoni Jurasz University Hospital No. 1 in Bydgoszcz. He also served as the Vice-Rector for Collegium Medicum for the term 2012-2016. Recently, he was also appointed as the national consultant for oncology for the second term.
