NCU Collegium Medicum academics and employees of our university hospitals received awards and honourable mentions from the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. Marshal’s awards are highly prestigious distinctions for considerable achievements in key areas of public, social, professional and business activity.
The awards were made in 13 categories. In the category of Health protection, the distinctions were presented to:
dr hab. Maciej Słupski, head of the Division of Hepatobiliary and General Surgery (Faculty of Medicine) – for developing and implementing a liver transplantation programme in the Antoni Jurasz University Hospital No. 1 in Bydgoszcz;- team award for performing the first in the region and second in Poland crossover kidney transplantation went to:
- prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Włodarczyk, head of the Department of General Surgery and Transplantology (Faculty of Medicine) – head of the team,
- dr hab. Maciej Słupski, head of the Division of Hepatobiliary and General Surgery (Faculty of Medicine),
- dr Piotr Jarzemski, head of the Urology Department at the Jan Biziel University Hospital No. 2 in Bydgoszcz,
- dr Aleksandra Woderska, regional coordinator for organ acquisition and transplantation at the Poltransplant Centre for Organisation and Coordination of Transplantation.
In the category of Science, research and technical advancement, an honourable mention went to:
- dr Mariusz Kowalewski, assistant lecturer at the Division of Ergonomics and Exercise Physiology (Faculty of Health Sciences) – for a series of 33 English-language publications in the areas of interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery which contributed to modifying global guidelines on the management of coronary disease and heart defects.
