The WOŚP Finale is a nationwide one-day public money collection event held every year in order to raise funds for equipment donated to Polish hospitals. It is one of the greatest and most successful charity events of this kind in the world. The theme of this year’s Finale is “Helping is a child’s play” – money raised during the event will be spent on specialised equipment for paediatric hospitals.

The event is organised by the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation – a public benefit organisation whose main aim is to actively support the medical and health protection sector through implementing a number of nationwide medical programs and organising money collections. In the 26 years of its functioning, the WOŚP Foundation has purchased over €200 million worth of medical equipment!

You can find out more about the WOŚP Foundation and the Grand Finale here.

On the day of the Grand Finale, over a hundred thousand volunteers will take to the streets of Polish cities and towns, carrying characteristic collection cans and red heart-shaped stickers given in return for a donation. Money will also be raised through auctions, bidding or direct transfers to WOŚP accounts. As always, the Finale will be accompanied by numerous special events which will begin on the Saturday before the big day.

Many events in Bydgoszcz are being organised on that occasion, including a concert at the Torbyd Ice Rink (next to Łuczniczka sports hall) and various attractions offered all over the city on the day of the Grand Finale (detailed information available in Polish). Collegium Medicum students will also be involved. The Bydgoszcz Branch of IFMSA-Poland is going to support WOŚP aim by organising a series of events at the Bailamos Dance School. You will be able to measure your sugar level and blood pressure, find out more about the consequences of smoking or the symptoms of anorexia and bulimia, and even register as a potential bone marrow donor.

Join us in supporting the noble cause!
