implantation of ultra-low-profile stent-graft by the team headed by prof. dr hab. Arkadiusz JawieńA team of vascular surgeons from the A. Jurasz University Hospital No. 1 in Bydgoszcz was the first in Poland and in this part of Europe to perform an implantation of InCraft® – an innovative, ultra-low-profile stent-graft. The team was headed by prof. dr hab. Arkadiusz Jawień, head of the Department of Vascular Surgery and Angiology and of the Centre for Medical Education in English of the NCU Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz.

A team of vascular surgeons from the A. Jurasz University Hospital No. 1 in Bydgoszcz was the first in Poland and in this part of Europe to perform an implantation of InCraft® – an innovative, ultra-low-profile stent-graft. The team was headed by prof. dr hab. Arkadiusz Jawień, head of the Department of Vascular Surgery and Angiology and of the Centre for Medical Education in English of the NCU Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz, who had been preparing for the procedure by participating in similar surgeries performed in Milan, Italy. The surgery was possible thanks to the introduction of miniaturized endograft devices as well as the considerable experience of the operating team.

InCraft® is currently the thinnest prosthesis used in the treatment of endovascular aortic aneurysms. The device is a step forward in the field of vascular surgery and allows a less invasive approach to the surgical repair of aneurysms, thus reducing the time of in-patient hospital stay to the minimum. Placing the stent-graft in a patient’s blood vessels involves a surgical puncture instead of a standard incision, reducing the invasiveness of the procedure and shortening the period of postoperative convalescence. Other important features of the graft include advanced stability due to unique sharpened barbs facilitating wall anchoring, in situ adjustment improving placement accuracy, or the flexible, navigation-friendly catheter allowing access in simple and complex anatomies, and consequently increasing the number of patients qualifying for endovascular aneurysm repair.
