SOLIDARITY WITH UKRAINE
19th May 2018

17th of May is celebrated as a Norwegian Constitution Day and features spectacular school children’s flag parades. Students from the Association of Norwegian Students Abroad (ANSA) decided to hold the celebrations in Bydgoszcz and show us some of the old traditions of Norway.

Norwegian flag17th of May, the date of the signing of the constitution, is celebrated as a Norwegian Constitution Day with the school children’s flag parades. All over the country children are walking in parades waving their flags and singing songs. In the capital Oslo, the parade passes the Royal Palace where thousands of schoolchildren wave to the King and Queen. A notable feature of the Norwegian Constitution Day celebration is the virtual absence of any military parades, the day being almost wholly a civilian celebration.

The student organization ANSA (Association of Norwegian Students Abroad) decided to hold the celebrations in Bydgoszcz and show the students some of the old traditions of Norway. They arranged an event for all English Division students in the Old Town with dinner and activities. Some of the Norwegian students were wearing their national costumes called ”Bunad”.

It was wonderful to see so many people taking part in this event!
