We are pleased to invite you to participate in another edition of the “Wampiriada” blood donation event. Blood banks are in a constant need for this life-giving fluid. We believe that the academic community of our medical university will be there to respond to the problem once again.
Everyone is invited to become a blood donor. However, the following are required:
- age between 18 and 65,
- weight of no less than 50 kg,
- body temperature no higher than 37 degrees,
- passing medical examination before donating blood,
- knowledge of Polish sufficient to understand and fill out a blood donor form and communicate with the nurses,
- a Polish document confirming your identity.
For those who meet the above requirement, here are some useful tips on how to prepare for blood donation:
- In the morning, eat a filling but light breakfast, e.g. a wholemeal sandwich with a slice of cheese, ham, lettuce and tomato. Never donate blood on empty stomach!
- During the 24 hours preceding donation, drink a lot of water, juice, or other non-alcoholic drinks.
- Do not eat fat, heavy meals before donation.
- Avoid excessive physical activity on the day of donation.
- Do not drink alcohol and limit smoking cigarettes during the 24 hours preceding donation.
- Get a good night’s sleep! Be rested and filled with energy – just think how much good you’re doing for other people!
The donation is organised jointly by:
- the Regional Centre for Blood Donation and Blood Treatment in Bydgoszcz (RCKiK Bydgoszcz),
- the Independent Students’ Association of the Nicolaus Copernicus University (NZS UMK),
- DKMS Poland (Stem Cell Donor Register),
- the Laboratory Medicine Student Association Bydgoszcz (STDL Bydgoszcz),
- Student Research Club for Medical Law „Lex Medica” of the Nicolaus Copernicus University.
The event will be held under the auspices of the Vice-Rector for Collegium Medicum, prof. dr hab. Jan Styczyński.
Every donor will receive a nice gift.
Join us in helping others!
