The 4th Joint EFLM-UEMS Congress was held between 21-24 September 2016 in Double Tree by Hilton conference centre in Warsaw. The central theme of the conference was: Laboratory Medicine at the Clinical Interface. The Congress was the biggest such event devoted to the fields of laboratory medicine and clinical diagnostics in Europe in 2016.

Andrzej TretynThe 4th Joint EFLM-UEMS Congress was held between 21-24 September 2016 in Double Tree by Hilton conference centre in Warsaw. The central theme of the conference was: Laboratory Medicine at the Clinical Interface. The President and main organiser of the meeting was prof. dr hab. Grażyna Odrowąż-Sypniewska, head of the Department of Laboratory Medicine of the Faculty of Pharmacy of NCU Collegium Medicum (also the Vice-Rector for Collegium Medicum for the term 2016-2020).

The event was held under the auspices of NCU Collegium Medicum, the Medical University of Warsaw and the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC). Honorary patronage was taken by the city of Warsaw.

The Congress was the biggest such event devoted to the fields of laboratory medicine and clinical diagnostics in Europe in 2016. As many as 700 participants from all over the world attended lectures and speeches on the most recent trends in laboratory medicine given by 25 Polish and 60 international scientists.

EFLM UEMS Congress, prof. dr hab. Grażyna Odrowąż-Sypniewska Our University was actively represented by: prof. dr hab. Grażyna Odrowąż-Sypniewska, prof. dr hab. Grzegorz Grześk, dr hab. Marek Koziński, dr hab. Jarosław Czyż, dr n. med. Magdalena Krintus and dr n. med. Joanna Siódmiak.

The official opening of the Congress was marked by a lecture given by Prof. Dennis Lo entitled „Plasma DNA: Driver of a revolution in molecular diagnostics for the clinic”. One of the many distinguished quests was Rector Magnificus of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, prof. dr hab. Andrzej Tretyn, who greeted the participants with an opening speech.

The Congress was one of the most significant European scientific events devoted entirely to laboratory medicine, serving as a platform for the exchange of valuable experience and the promotion of international cooperation. The meeting was the first international congress in 25 years organised in Poland by laboratory medicine specialists.
