25th November 2014 was a historic day in the life of Collegium Medicum. It marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the University and, at the same time, the 10th anniversary of its merger with the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. As a result of the union proclaimed in 2004, the University changed its name from the Ludwik Rydygier Medical University in Bydgoszcz to the Nicolaus Copernicus University Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz, as we now know it.
On the day of the double anniversary, a special ceremony took place in Aula nr 4 im. Profesora Jana Domaniewskiego (Assembly Room no. 4) in the building of the University’s Medical Library in Bydgoszcz. The ceremony was graced by the presence of officials from both campuses of the University, as well as representatives of the authorities of Bydgoszcz and Toruń. The event featured commemorative speeches delivered by distinguished members of the academic community, a presentation of Rector’s awards, and a performance of the superb Collegium Medicum Choir.
